Lower Sacramento
The Lower Sacramento River is undoubtedly California’s finest tailwater trout fishery. With an abundance of cold, well-oxygenated water, rich insect life, and good numbers of spawning salmon, it’s no wonder the Lower Sac rainbows grow to such enormous proportions! The “Sac bows” are shaped like footballs, and are some of the hardest pulling trout you’ll find anywhere in the world. We access the 50+ trout-filled miles below Lake Shasta using comfortable drift boats, fishing countless riffles and runs as we float.
Though mostly an indicator-nymphing river, there can be plenty of opportunities to throw dry flies at certain times of the year. The Lower Sac is an excellent choice for anglers of all abilities, and offers year around fishing for trophy rainbows. The Lower Sac is our home river, and we’d be happy to show you why we think it’s one of the best trout fisheries in the country.
